Meta has paused its plans to launch its Ray-Ban Display smart glasses in more countries, citing limited inventory and unprecedented demand for the product in the United States.

The company had earlier planned to roll out the glasses in the UK, France, Italy and Canada early this year. However, those plans have now been put on hold as Meta focuses on fulfilling existing orders in the US.

Reason behind the delayed rollout

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Meta said the Ray-Ban Display is a “first-of-its-kind product with extremely limited inventory.”

The company added that demand since launch has been overwhelming, with waitlists now stretching well into 2026.

“Because of this unprecedented demand and limited inventory, we’ve decided to pause our planned international expansion to the UK, France, Italy, and Canada, which was originally scheduled for early 2026,” Meta said.

It continued, “We’ll continue to focus on fulfilling orders in the US while we re-evaluate our approach to international availability.”

Meta launched its first-ever Ray-Ban smart glasses with a display in September, with sales beginning in the US later that month.

The glasses were developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica and mark the company’s first smart glasses to feature an in-lens display.

About Ray-Ban smart glasses

The Ray-Ban Display comes with a 600x600p full-colour display and a 20-degree field of view. It includes a 12MP camera with 3x zoom, along with a viewfinder displayed directly on the lens to help users frame shots more accurately.

The glasses also feature a six-microphone setup and open-ear speakers for calls and music. They offer up to six hours of battery life on a single charge and up to 30 hours with the charging case.

A key feature of the device is the complementary Meta Neural Band, which uses EMG technology to read subtle wrist muscle movements. This allows users to scroll, click and pinch to control the glasses without touching their phone or the device itself.

With the built-in display, users can access Meta AI for answers and step-by-step guidance. The glasses also support viewing and sending messages on Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, as well as making video calls through WhatsApp and Messenger.
