Internet browsing will now also have the touch of artificial intelligence. Google has introduced a new artificial intelligence-based browsing experiment. Its name is Disco. This tool, built with Google's Gemini AI, has one goal— to make users' work easier while browsing the internet.
Disco's most important feature is GenTabs. This feature looks at the user's open tabs and understands what they want to do. Then it suggests creating small web apps for that task on its own. Google calls these custom apps GenTabs.

For instance, if someone is studying a topic, GenTabs can help create a web app to display information for easier understanding of that subject. Again, if someone views multiple cooking recipes, it's possible to create a meal planning app with that information. When searching for hotels, places, or routes during travel, GenTabs can combine that information to create a trip planner.
All these tasks can now be done with many AI chatbots. However, GenTabs has a distinct advantage. It doesn't just answer questions. Rather, it uses information from the user's open tabs and previous Gemini chats to instantly create functional apps. Later, users can further customize and organize that app by giving instructions in simple language if they wish. Google has announced that any content created with GenTabs will include links to the original sources of information. This way, users will understand where the information was taken from.
Google has previously attempted to integrate AI more deeply with browsing. Instead of creating a separate AI browser, Google has integrated the Gemini assistant within the Chrome browser itself. There, users can ask questions about open web pages. However, GenTabs goes one step further. It works not just on a single page, but on all tabs open simultaneously.

At this moment, Disco is not launching for everyone. Initially, a very small number of users will be able to use it. They will test through Google Labs and provide feedback. Google has announced that more new features will come to Disco, starting with GenTabs. To use Disco, one must join the waitlist. Currently, this feature is launching only for macOS users.
