A Mumbai auto driver has gone viral after claiming that he earns around ₹75,000 a month, sparking a debate on income, effort and job stability. The video, shared by Instagram user Utkarsh Verma, begins with him talking to the driver about how expensive Mumbai is. While agreeing, the driver says there is also a lot of money to be made in the city.
Driver’s earnings claim
In the video, the driver says, “Yahan paisa itna hai, barsata hai,” adding that the only challenge is finding the right opportunity. He claims that he earns about ₹2,500 a day on average, even after expenses. Based on this, Verma calculates that the monthly income comes to roughly ₹75,000.
Corporate salary comparison
Based on this, Verma compares the driver’s income with entry-level corporate jobs, saying many fresh graduates earn less in their first jobs.
He also says driving an auto in Mumbai can give better earning chances, along with meeting new people and build networking, compared to “sitting in a cubicle".
He adds, “₹75,000 is the average. If you work a little harder, you can earn around ₹1 lakh… minimum ₹60,000,” in the video.
Social media reactions
The clip quickly drew mixed reactions online. One user said, "Respect in a job is dependant on Marriage market! When girls will start marrying and accepting boys with such jobs, these jobs will automatically become mainstream. With the likes of Urban company, Snabbit and Pronto coming up, That time is coming in next 3 years!" Another user commented, "Dignity of labour is non existent in India." A third wrote, "Mere se jayda to mumbai mai bhaiya kama rhe hai".
The video started a big discussion about income and jobs in India. People are also talking about job stability and respect for work. It shows that non-corporate jobs can also earn good money. The thing is that earnings depend on effort, time, and opportunity.
