'Virtual is manifesting for me': Karan Johar reacts to AI video casting Hollywood stars in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'

Karan Johar, a Bollywood director has reacted to an AI created video depicting Hollywood actors as characters from his film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The video was shared on social media and includes many well-known international actors in the roles of the original Bollywood legends.

Among the notable stars included in the AI video was Meryl Streep cast in the role of Nandini Raichand, originally played by Jaya Bachchan. Karan was impressed enough with the AI results of the casting to profess his desire to cast Streep in one of his films, stating that the "virtual" world is burgeoning before him.

Re-sharing the video on his Instagram Stories, Karan wrote, "Ok AI! Whatever it takes to get Meryl Streep into any frame of mine!!! I will take it gladly! Virtual is manifesting for me."

The other AI cast

The video also imagines George Clooney playing Yashvardhan Raichand, Amitabh Bachchan's role. Tom Cruise takes on the character of Rahul Raichand, originally played by Shah Rukh Khan. Anne Hathaway portrays Anjali Sharma, a role by Kajol.

Jennifer Lawrence plays Naina Kapoor, which was Rani Mukerji's character. Margot Robbie acts as Poo, also known as Pooja, originally portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Chris Hemsworth takes the role of Rohan Raichand, played by Hrithik Roshan.



The cult status of movie

Released in 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham tells the story of a wealthy family that falls apart when the father disowns his adopted son for marrying someone outside their social class.

This causes years of separation before they finally reconcile. The film was the most expensive Indian production at the time and became one of the highest-grossing Indian films in history. Over the years, it has gained a cult following, turning its characters into enduring pop-culture icons.
