An Instagram content creator named Anjali Jha has gone viral after a video of her interaction with a passerby during a video shoot triggered a heated debate online about clothing choices and public behaviour.

Who is Anjali Jha?

Anjali Jha is a young social media influencer who creates short-form lifestyle and fashion content on Instagram. She regularly posts reels featuring outfits, styling ideas and day-to-day lifestyle videos for her followers. Her Instagram handle, annjali__jha, hosts several such reels where she films short clips in public places and urban locations.

While she was already active on social media as a fashion and lifestyle creator, she recently grabbed widespread attention after sharing a reel that captured an unexpected confrontation during one of her shoots.

What happened in the viral video?

The incident occurred when Jha was filming a reel in a public space. While she was preparing to record the video, a middle-aged woman approached her and began questioning the outfit she was wearing.

In the clip, the woman criticises the influencer’s short dress and tells her, “Ye koi America London thodi hai,” implying that such clothing may not be appropriate in India. She further tells Jha not to “tarnish the name of India” and argues that women in the country should maintain a certain standard of dignity in public.

The woman also expressed safety concerns, suggesting that people might stare at her and that the surroundings were not always safe for women. At one point, she advised the influencer to change her outfit before continuing with the video shoot, saying she spoke to her “like a daughter.”

Throughout the interaction, Jha is seen responding calmly and telling the woman that she had travelled a long distance to shoot the reel.

After Jha uploaded the video on Instagram, it quickly spread across social media platforms and sparked a discussion.

Many users praised the influencer for handling the situation politely. Others criticised the woman’s comments, calling it an example of “moral policing.” At the same time, some viewers felt the woman may have been expressing genuine concern about safety rather than trying to shame the influencer.
