Trinamool Congress national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee has been holding "Abaar Jitbe Bangla" resolve meetings across Bengal districts ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
While holding a meeting on Saturday, in Bankura, Banerjee said, "People have come here with the resolve to turn Bankura completely green by making AITC candidates win in every seat of the district."
In 2021 Assembly polls, the TMC won four out of 12 seats in Bankura. The remaining seats were won by the BJP. In 2024, the TMC won six seats, taking the score for TMC and BJP to six seats each.

Calling out to the people, the TMC MP said, "We must score six out of six seats in Bishnupur and six out of six seats in Bankura as well. By scoring these two sixes, we must make it 12-0 in Trinamool's favour."
"Although the AITC did not perform well electorally in Bankura, our government has spent Rs 3,500 crore in the district for Lakshmir Bhandar. Several water projects are ongoing. I have requested the installation of 150 tubewells in the region. Tankers will also be deployed to ease the problem of drinking water within two months," Banerjee said.
'Bengal will lead the way'
Reiterating the statement that TMC supremo has also been very firm about, the Diamond Harbour MP said, "Even if the entire country is saffronised by the BJP, Bengal will fight against them and show the way to the entire country."
'Making BJP win is like inviting trouble...'
The Diamond Harbour MP claimed that making the BJP win "is like inviting trouble".
"BJP leaders are calling us Bangladeshis. Those who speak Bangla are being tagged as Bangladeshi nationals. PM Modi wants to decide what you will eat. The BJP wants to dictate your way of life. With only 70 MLAs, the BJP had the audacity to thrash a chicken patties seller. Imagine what would have happened if they were in power!"

He explained the work that the TMC has carried out over the past years under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
"15 years ago, Bankura was in a dismal state. The Jungle Mahal area of the district was infested with Maoists. Places like Indpur and Chatna faced water scarcity. People had to travel to Bardhaman and Durgapur for education. The same was the case with healthcare. We have built multi super-specialty hospitals, colleges and proper roads in the region. Bankura, once a hotspot for Maoist activities, is now peaceful. This is one of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s biggest successes."
