On his way to the location, a group of protesters staged a demonstration near Kamalgazi and showed black flags. Despite the protest, the Trinamool Congress leader continued towards his destination by car. The situation escalated when Banerjee reached the locality where the party worker lived. Protesters allegedly blocked his vehicle, preventing it from moving forward.
With the road blocked, Banerjee got out of the car and attempted to continue his journey on a motorcycle.
TMC chief and former chief minister Mamata Banerjee blamed the BJP for the attack. The BJP, however, denied the allegations.
Speaking about the incident, Mamata Banerjee accused authorities of attempting to block medical treatment for Abhishek Banerjee.
“Those who are in power are threatening all the hospitals and the maximum authorities not to admit Abhishek Banerjee because they don’t want him to be treated," she said.
