Big Breaking: Major disruption on Kolkata Metro's Blue Line. Due to a mechanical fault, a metro rake stopped on the tracks while travelling from Tollygunge to Netaji Metro Station. This problem occurred on the line going from Dakshineswar towards Shahid Khudiram. As a result, metros have been stopping one after another on the Shahid Khudiram-bound line.
Kolkata Metro had announced that due to unavoidable reasons, partial service was running on the Blue Line, with services operating from Dakshineswar to Maidan Station. However, shortly after sending this message, Metro authorities informed that an alarm had gone off in the electronic control system. This could have happened due to some mechanical fault. For safety reasons, metro operations were suspended for some time. The service was restored within a short while.
