To prevent train ticket booking through fake and fraudulent user IDs, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has recently taken strict measures. As a result of these measures, the number of new user IDs being created on the IRCTC website has decreased significantly. Previously, around one lakh new user IDs were created daily. Now that number has dropped to approximately 5,000 per day.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has stated that this change has been possible due to the introduction of new and stringent measures for user identity verification. These measures were implemented to curb the tendency of booking tickets with fake identities. A press release from the Railway Ministry has announced that this initiative has already started yielding positive results.

According to railway officials, IRCTC has so far deactivated or disabled 3 crore 3 lakh fake accounts. Additionally, approximately 2 crore 70 lakh user IDs have been temporarily suspended or are in the process of being suspended due to involvement in suspicious activities.
The Railway Minister has directed that the ticket booking system should be brought to such a level that ordinary passengers can easily book tickets through genuine and valid user IDs. The Railway Ministry believes this will reduce the dominance of black marketing and tout networks.
The Railway Minister has given another important directive to further improve passenger services. Arrangements have been made to serve local food from respective regions on Vande Bharat trains. According to railway officials, this will enable passengers to better enjoy the culture and flavors of those regions, making the train journey experience more attractive.
