The Medical Rehabilitation Centre (MRC) marked a significant milestone as it completed 25 years of excellence in medical rehabilitation with the MRC 25 Summit 2025, a national-level conference held in Kolkata. The day-long summit brought together leading doctors, rehabilitation experts, and healthcare policymakers from across India, creating a platform for dialogue on innovation, clinical excellence, and the evolving landscape of rehabilitation medicine.

Eastern India’s first robotic therapy

A major highlight of the summit was MRC’s introduction of Eastern India’s first robotic therapy and AI-led medical rehabilitation approach, signalling a transformative shift in precision-based and technology-enabled patient recovery. Experts at the summit underlined that robotic rehabilitation is expected to see rapid adoption over the next five to seven years, driven by consistent clinical outcomes, patient trust, and growing acceptance within established healthcare systems.

Discussions throughout the day explored how artificial intelligence and robotics can enhance accuracy, safety, and scalability in rehabilitation, aligning seamlessly with the discipline’s core goal of restoring function and dignity to patients. The agenda featured in-depth sessions on Fibromyalgia, Post-Stroke Pain Management, AI and Robotics in Rehabilitation, HR Technology in Healthcare, Bladder Rehabilitation and Botox, Bowel and Sexual Rehabilitation, Peripheral Neuropathy, Tenotomy for improved outcomes, and other emerging focus areas in rehabilitative medicine.

Reflecting on the journey and vision of MRC, Dr. Mouli Madhab Ghatak, Founder & In-charge, Medical Rehabilitation Center, said, “Some of the most complex struggles faced by patients are also the least talked about, such as post-treatment complications, chronic pain, and functional limitations that persist beyond acute care. By opening conversations on these critical but overlooked areas of rehabilitation, we aim to bridge gaps in understanding, empathy, and clinical practice, ensuring that end-to-end recovery, dignity, and long-term well-being remain central to medical care.”

The summit was chaired by Dr. B.K. Choudhury, and the event featured an eminent panel including Dr. A. K. Mukherjee, Dr. Jagannatha Sahoo, Dr. Ravi Shankaran, Dr. Sanjay Pandey, Dr. Mrinal Joshi, Dr. Rajesh Pramanik, Dr. Goutam Das, and several other senior specialists from premier institutions across India. Their shared clinical insights and future-forward perspectives made the summit a meaningful forum for learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
