The lawyer of the victim has made explosive claims about the rape of a medical student in Durgapur. "The rape incident was pre-planned. The victim's classmate is the mastermind.” Four of the arrested were produced before the Durgapur sub-divisional court on Wednesday. The four have been remanded in jail custody for five days.
The court has ordered the TI parade to be held on October 24. On that day, the victim will go to Fuljhor Correctional Institution and participate in the TI parade. The victim's lawyer claimed that the girl was taken out of the college with a plan to rape her. "The five boys who were caught in the incident were already acquainted with their classmates. The classmates used to go to the local village to offer prayers. It was from there that the accused met a classmate.”
Advocate Bibhas Chatterjee, appearing for the state government, said, "The case will be disposed of as soon as possible. The culprits must be punished. There are various charges against the six accused in the incident.” Notably, the statements of two of the accused were recorded in front of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Durgapur sub-divisional court on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the investigation into the incident has been wrapped up. After the TI parade, the police will go one step further. The statement of the victim has already been recorded.
On October 10, a student of a private medical college in Durgapur was allegedly gang raped. Later, the police claimed that there was evidence that only one person had committed rape in the incident.
