Family alleges domestic violence

It has been learned that about three years ago, a romantic relationship developed between Lakshmi Das, a young woman from Jerot village in Jangipara, and Bapon Dul, a young man from Radhanagar village under Dhanekhali police station. Both were college classmates at the time. After dating for quite some time, they got married two years ago. A year after marriage, Lakshmi gave birth to a daughter. But from then on, cracks began to appear in their relationship bit by bit. Allegations arose that Bapon was having an affair with another woman. This news also reached Lakshmi's ears. Unrest began between the two. This marital discord kept growing and took an extreme form. Lakshmi's family also alleges that Bapon would beat Lakshmi while intoxicated.

The unrest reached its peak on Sunday afternoon. Bapon called his mother-in-law Mithu Das and told her to take her daughter home. Sometime later, Bapon's mother suddenly called to inform that Lakshmi had lost consciousness. She was admitted to the hospital. But she did not clearly inform Lakshmi's family about how this happened. Lakshmi's mother reached Tarakeshwar Rural Hospital on Sunday evening. She saw Lakshmi's lifeless body lying in the hospital's emergency room. Lakshmi's mother broke down in tears. While wailing, she said, "She didn't listen to me. I had told her to leave him and come away."
