The accused, who has been identified as Sanju Sarkar (34), a resident of Purba Barisha, had worked as a domestic help in the victim’s house about two years ago. Sarkar allegedly went to the house at around 8.30 am and demanded money. After the attack, the suspect is also believed to have removed gold ornaments and money from the house.

“She allegedly went to the house around 8.30 am and demanded money. When the victim refused, an altercation followed, during which the accused allegedly attacked her with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries,” a senior police officer said.
