Permission has been given to allow inmates of the correctional facility to sign enumeration forms for the 'SIR'. An instruction regarding this matter has been received from the state for the Cooch Behar District Correctional Home. The matter was announced on the notice board of this correctional facility on Sunday, November 16.

The authorities will inform the inmates separately on Monday. As a result, it is believed that the inmates will remain mentally uplifted to some extent. Superintendent of Cooch Behar District Correctional Home, Gautam Roy, said, “The ADG (Correctional Services) sent an instruction on Saturday. It stated that if any inmate's family wants to get them to sign the 'SAR' form, it should be facilitated”.

There are currently 426 inmates in the Cooch Behar District Correctional Home. Among them, 50 are women; this number also includes several Bangladeshi inmates. There are eight convicted inmates. The rest are all under trial. It has been learned that, despite being in prison, many are aware of the 'SIR' matter. They are willing to fill out the form. Many of their families are also interested in filling out the form. Until now, family members used to come to meet the inmates once a week.

Apart from this, family members can now come on other days as well to fill out the 'SIR' form for the inmates. However, they will have to bring the form with them. After informing the authorities about the matter, they will examine everything and allow the inmates to sign. This process will start on Monday. The correctional facility staff have also been informed about the matter so that they do not create any obstacles when family members come.
