Braving the biting Himalayan cold, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) superfan Ashok Chakraborty carried his team’s purple and gold colours all the way to the Everest Base Camp, hoisting the franchise flag on October 19.
In a press release, the KKR team said it was proud that “the iconic purple and gold colours don’t just shine in stadiums, but from the highest peaks of the Himalayas.” The franchise added that Chakraborty’s act reflected “the heart and resilience of the KKR family.” as report by Outlook.

A fan’s journey beyond the stands
Ashok Chakraborty is a stationery shop owner from Nabadwip, West Bengal who has followed the KKR team since the inaugural IPL season in 2008. As reported by Outlook Sports, he has not missed a single KKR home match at Eden Gardens.
In March 2024, the franchise recognised his devotion by presenting him with a ‘Golden Ticket’, which granted him access to every KKR match that season, both home and away.
Chakraborty has often said that KKR isn’t just a team for him but it’s an emotion, describing how his loyalty to the side pushes him to go the extra mile - or in this case, the extra altitude.
The official fan page of KKR has posted his expedition pictures which has now gone viral. His own Instagram account is also filled with pictures of him at stadiums, cheering for KKR during their match.
