No hearing without BLA-2s in the proceedings—MLA Asit Majumdar of Chinsurah matched his words with action. Around 11:30 AM on Monday, he stopped the hearing at the Chinsurah-Mogra block office. The hearing session remained suspended for nearly an hour. Meanwhile, there was a long queue outside the BDO office. They faced difficulties. The atmosphere at the BDO office premises began to heat up. Police from Mogra station arrived at the scene. According to commission sources, the hearing resumed after the district magistrate's intervention. However, when SDO Ayan Nath was contacted by phone, he declined to comment on the matter.
Hearing halted over transparency concerns
MLA Asit Majumdar said, "We are against this type of hearing procedure. They are calling whoever they can to the hearing. I see so many elderly people have even come in ambulances. What does this mean? Those who are government employees, have worked in government service for a long time, have retired and receive pensions, they are also being called for hearings. Whether they have passports or their names are on the 2002 SIR list, hearing notices are being issued. No one knows where this ordeal will end."

Asit's demand is that BLA-2s must be given entry rights to bring transparency. His claim is that if BLA-2s can be present for form distribution and other work, then why not during hearings? At the same time, he demands that if BLA-2s cannot be present, it should be given in writing. "BLA-2s cannot be removed and names arbitrarily struck off. Not a single eligible voter's name can be deleted."
However, as soon as the news reached them, the administration sprang into action. Phone calls began. According to sources, the problem was resolved after about an hour. The hearing session resumed once again.
