US President Donald Trump has come to the rescue of an ICE agent after the immigration officer shot a woman dead in Minneapolis during an operation. President Trump has claimed that the officer acted in self-defence after being "violently, wilfully and viciously" attacked by the 37-year-old victim.

What did Donald Trump say?

"I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He further wrote,"Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital. The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis."

Defending ICE officers, the President wrote, "They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!"

What happened in Minneapolis?

Renee Nicole Good was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. The spot of occurrence was a residential street, close to immigrant-run businesses. She was killed just about a mile away from where George Floyd was killed by a police officer in 2020. Floyd's killing had triggered the mass 'Black Lives Matter' movement in the US.

US law enforcement and immigration officials said the ICE agent fired his weapon after the woman tried to use her car against the officers. They claimed she attempted to hit the agents with the vehicle.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the officer's action and called the incident an "act of domestic terrorism" against ICE. She said the woman tried to run over federal agents, leaving the officer with no option but to open fire.
