Following the 12-year-old daughterâs death, a grieving mother in Georgia is demanding answers following a fight with another child shortly after getting off her school bus.
Jada West, a student at Mason Creek Middle School in Villa Rica, had only recently joined the school. Her mother, Rashunda McClendon, says the young girl had already been facing bullying issues since starting classes there.
âShe was loving, she was kind, she didnât deserve this,â said Westâs mother, Rashunda McClendon.

Speaking to reporters, McClendon said the violence that led to her daughterâs death should never have happened. âItâs gotta stop. It must stop. Violence has to stop,â she said.
Family members noted that the altercation began earlier on March 5 during an argument on the school bus. The dispute allegedly continued after West got off the bus near her home, where it escalated into a physical fight.
One of Westâs friends ran to alert her mother, who rushed to the scene moments later.

"And she was on the ground," McClendon recalled. "She wasn't breathing.â
Witnesses at the scene told the mother that the fight had turned physical. One girl reportedly claimed that West struck first.
West was first taken to Tanner Medical Centre before being transferred to Childrenâs Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Despite medical efforts, she died the following day.

Doctors later confirmed she had suffered cardiac heart failure. Her family is now waiting for the official autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death.
Cellphone videos circulating on social media appear to show West arguing with other children shortly after stepping off the school bus. The footage then shows the fight breaking out between West and another girl. During the confrontation, West appears to fall hard before losing consciousness.
âNobody tried to stop it. No one tried to call the police and stop it,â her mother said.
Villa Rica police are now examining those videos as part of their investigation to determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
