Iran responds to Trump’s warning over Strait of Hormuz oil flow
Iran on Tuesday reacted sharply to a warning from United States President Donald Trump, who said the US would strike “twenty times harder” if the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted.
“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. Responding to the remark, Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani said the Strait of Hormuz “will either be a strait of peace and prosperity for all or will be a strait of defeat and suffering for ‘warmongers’.”
The tensions come as Iran has targeted traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes. The developments have pushed global oil prices higher and forced several companies to halt production amid rising stockpiles.
