The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has rolled out an intensive sanitation campaign across its jurisdiction in Lutyens’ Delhi, stepping up cleaning operations to address seasonal sanitation challenges. Civic officials said the drive focuses on removing dry leaves, controlling dust and improving overall cleanliness across prominent roads, markets and residential zones.

Focus on clearing dry leaves and controlling dust

According to Hindustan Times, the sanitation campaign aims to deal with the accumulation of dry leaves and construction dust that typically increases during this time of year. Special cleaning teams have been deployed to carry out sweeping, waste removal and dust-control measures in several high-footfall areas of the NDMC region.

Mechanical road sweepers and sanitation workers are working across major roads and public spaces to ensure regular cleaning. Authorities are also using specialised equipment and water sprinkling to reduce dust levels along key stretches.

The NDMC area includes some of the capital’s most prominent locations such as government buildings, diplomatic enclaves, markets and residential zones. Maintaining sanitation in these areas is considered crucial due to heavy daily footfall and official activity.

Civic teams intensify cleanliness operations

According to officials, the sanitation drive will involve continuous monitoring of garbage-prone spots and multiple waste collection rounds in busy areas. The campaign also includes trimming overgrown vegetation, clearing debris and ensuring drains remain free from blockages.

Civic authorities said the initiative forms part of routine efforts to maintain hygiene and improve the visual appeal of Lutyens’ Delhi. With dry weather conditions often leading to dust accumulation, intensified sanitation work is expected to help keep roads, parks and public spaces clean.

Officials added that such drives will continue periodically to maintain sanitation standards and ensure the area remains clean and well-maintained for residents, visitors and government offices located in the NDMC jurisdiction.
