Tehran has pushed back strongly against comments by US President Donald Trump on the ongoing conflict involving Iran, saying that the decision on when Iran, not Washington, will make the war ends.
In a statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that the course and conclusion of the conflict now rest with Iran’s military forces.
The response came after Trump suggested that the war in Iran could end soon.
Iran says it will determine the outcome
“It is we who will determine the end of the war," the IRGC said in a statement.
“The equations and future status of the region are now in the hands of our armed forces; American forces will not end the war," it added.
The remarks come as tensions continue following US and Israeli military actions against Iranian targets.

Trump signals possible escalation
Iran’s statement comes after US President Donald Trump in a news conference in Florida, said, “It's going to be ended soon, and if it starts up again they'll be hit even harder.”
Trump, speaking to Republican lawmakers at his golf club near Miami, suggested the conflict may not last long but warned that any disruption to global oil flows would trigger a stronger US response.
“We took a little excursion to the Middle East to get rid of some evil. And, I think you'll see it's going to be a short-term excursion,” Trump told Republican lawmakers.
Hours later, the US commander-in-chief posted a message on social media warning Iran against interfering with oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far."
"Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again — Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them — But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen! This is a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait. Hopefully, it is a gesture that will be greatly appreciated," he added further.

Oil supply concerns and global impact
The conflict has disrupted major oil and gas supplies to global markets. Fuel prices have risen across the US, while oil briefly climbed to its highest level since 2022.
Tensions escalated after Iran selected Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader following the death of his father. Investors viewed the move as a sign that Tehran was preparing for a prolonged conflict, ten days after the war began with US and Israeli strikes.
Later, oil prices eased, and US stocks rose as markets reacted to hopes that the conflict may not last long.
Diplomatic efforts and rising security threats
Trump also spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday about the conflict and other issues. Putin’s foreign affairs adviser, Yuri Ushakov, said Putin “voiced a few ideas regarding a quick political and diplomatic settlement” following discussions with Gulf leaders and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Meanwhile, the situation around the Strait of Hormuz remains tense. The waterway, through which nearly 20 per cent of the world’s crude oil passes, has been blocked to most oil tankers.
About 10 vessels in or near the Iran-controlled strait have come under attack since Tehran blocked the passage in response to US-Israeli strikes, according to AFP.
French President Emmanuel Macron said allies were preparing a “purely defensive” mission to reopen the route.
Global shipping giant MSC has halted some export shipments from the Gulf. Bahrain’s state energy company Bapco, along with firms in Qatar and Kuwait, declared "force majeure" after attacks disrupted energy infrastructure.
Saudi Arabia also said it had thwarted a drone attack targeting an oil field in the eastern part of the kingdom near the Emirati border.
