Visa services to resume next week
Visa services for Indians had been suspended during the tenure of Muhammad Yunus. The suspension followed administrative orders from the Bangladeshi High Commission, citing security concerns after protests by Hindutva activists outside Bangladeshi diplomatic missions in several Indian cities.
The halt in visa issuance had remained in place for nearly two months, affecting tourism, business travel and cross-border exchanges.
Diplomatic intervention leads to decision
According to sources, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri recently raised the issue with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman while attending the new government’s swearing-in ceremony in Bangladesh.
