A video allegedly showing Yuzvendra Chahal has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread discussion, though its authenticity remains unverified.

The short clip, which began circulating on X and Instagram on Friday, appears to show a man resembling Chahal smoking while driving a luxury car. In the footage, the individual is seen taking a puff and then throwing the cigarette butt onto the road. The video quickly gained traction, drawing criticism from social media users and civic groups over concerns around public behaviour and responsibility.

However, there is no confirmation about when or where the video was recorded. The identity of the person in the clip has also not been officially established.

No confirmation from Chahal’s side

At present, neither Chahal nor his representatives have responded to the viral footage. With no official statement and no independent verification, the clip continues to circulate amid speculation. India Today has also reported that it cannot confirm the authenticity of the video or definitively link it to the cricketer.

The timing of the controversy has added to the buzz, as it comes during the ongoing IPL 2026 season, where Chahal remains an active figure.

Recent focus on fitness and discipline

The viral moment contrasts with Chahal’s recent statements about lifestyle changes. In a conversation with AB de Villiers on the latter’s YouTube channel, the leg-spinner spoke about prioritising fitness and long-term performance.

“I've stopped drinking alcohol, and it's been more than six months. I am now 35, so I want to be more active and give my 150% for my team. As a senior player, I want people in the IPL to learn something from me,” Chahal said.

He had also linked the decision to recurring injuries and his aim to maintain peak condition. Last season, Chahal picked up 16 wickets in 14 matches as Punjab Kings reached the final, where they lost to RCB.

For now, with no verified details, the viral video remains a subject of online debate rather than confirmed fact.
