A dust storm engulfed parts of Gurugram as the India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds.


Residents of Gurugram witnessed a sudden dust storm on Monday as strong winds swept across the city, reducing visibility and signaling a change in weather conditions across the National Capital Region (NCR).


The weather development comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR, warning of thunderstorms, rainfall and strong winds over the next several hours.

Videos and images shared on social media showed thick clouds of dust moving across roads, residential areas and commercial districts in Gurugram.


The strong winds led to reduced visibility in several locations, prompting commuters to exercise caution while travelling.


The dust storm also brought temporary relief from the intense heat that had gripped the region in recent days.


IMD issues orange alert


The IMD has placed Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and nearby areas under an orange alert, indicating the possibility of adverse weather conditions that could disrupt normal activities.
