The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the initiation of a capacity-building program that will enhance Skill Education in the middle school classes. The capacity-building program, which will be initiated in February 2026, will target teachers and school administrators dealing with Classes 6 to 8 in CBSE-affiliated schools.

The programme will be implemented by CBSE’s Skill Education Division and is designed to help educators translate skill-based learning policies into day-to-day classroom practice.

Focus on classroom-ready skill learning

According to the board, the month-long programme will be conducted throughout February at selected CBSE schools that will act as host institutions. Training sessions are scheduled in several cities, including New Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Ranchi, Bengaluru and other locations.

The workshops will be activity-based, and the timings will be from 9 am to 5.30 pm. The teachers, vice principals, and principals will participate in activities that will focus on classroom strategies rather than theoretical knowledge.

An important part of the training program will be the use of Kaushal Bodh textbooks developed by NCERT. The emphasis will be on experiential learning and interdisciplinary approaches to skill development at the middle school level.

Free training, shared responsibility

CBSE has clarified that participation in the programme is free of charge. However, attendees will need to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. The schools have been asked to communicate with the host institutions in advance to ensure smooth coordination.

Participants completing the training will be encouraged to act as master trainers within their schools and regions, helping extend skill-based teaching practices beyond the workshop setting.

CBSE officials said the initiative reflects the board’s broader push to integrate Skill Education more firmly into the academic framework and to ensure that classroom implementation keeps pace with curriculum reforms.
