The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has created a WhatsApp channel to provide timely communication to students, teachers and parents. This is the fastest way for NCERT to inform people of changes that take place in the Indian educational system and reduces a person's dependency on unauthorised sources to obtain this information.

Purpose of channel
According to the NCERT, the purpose of the WhatsApp Channel is to provide the public with information in a fast, easy-to-understand manner and to aid in reducing the prevalence of misinformation on social media. The NCERT believes this is a quick and efficient method to get the information to millions of students and teachers in India, since the majority of people in India currently use their mobile phones to access information.
The channel is part of the NCERT's broader digital initiative that encompasses the DIKSHA online learning resources.
Explaining the move, NCERT was quoted as saying by India Today, "The channel is meant to deliver information quickly and clearly." The Council further stated that "this is an easy way to reach millions of students and teachers".

"These updates are for everyone involved in school education, so students and teachers get correct and timely information," the Council asserted.
How to join channel?
Anyone can access the WhatsApp channel, the link of which ahs been posted on the website and social media sites by the NCERT. Once subscribed, people can access updates about textbooks, curriculum changes, teacher training and other programmes. This step has made education more open and easy to access for millions of teachers and parents across the country.
