Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has initiated the admission process for its MBA programs for the January 2026 session. The MBA programs will be conducted through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode under the School of Management Studies (SOMS) at IGNOU.
According to the university, the MBA course curriculum is designed to bring together scholarship and flexibility, responding to the ever-changing management and business world.
Eligibility and admission criteria
Candidates applying for the IGNOU MBA programmes must hold a Bachelor's degree with a minimum duration of three years of study from a recognised institution. For the general category, a candidate must secure a minimum of 50% marks, whereas a minimum of 45% marks is required for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

The MBA programme offered by IGNOU is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The University claims that the curriculum offered by them has perfect correlation with the requirements of the industry today, with a perfect blend of theory and practice.
The course content covers all the necessary aspects of management, ranging from finance, marketing, human resource management, operations management, and supply chain.
Flexible learning and accessibility
A major highlight of the IGNOU MBA programme is its flexible learning structure. Offered through the ODL mode, the programme allows learners to study at their own pace, making it suitable for working professionals, entrepreneurs, and fresh graduates who may not be able to attend regular classroom programmes.
IGNOU also emphasises the fees structure, which should be reasonable so that more learners can seek management education.

The MBA programme takes two years and is granted at the postgraduate level. IGNOU offers a variety of specialisations like Business Administration, Agribusiness Management, Construction Management, Financial Management, Health Care and Hospital Management, Human Resource Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, etc.
The medium of instruction includes English, Hindi, and Odia for select courses. It can be accessed across India through IGNOU’s regional and study centres; it is also offered in several countries outside.
