IIT Kharagpur students bag job offers worth more than ₹2 crores from various top recruiters, breaking all time record. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has always been ahead in terms of merit. Many domestic and international organisations recruit talent from the premier educational institution through its placement programmes. This year has been no exception, with companies such as Tesla, Google, Microsoft, and several other renowned organisations participating in the campus placements.

According to institutional sources, five students received job offers with salaries of ₹2 crore or more this year, breaking all previous records. Among these, the highest salary offered during campus recruitment stood at ₹2.44 crore per year. Additionally, ten students received job offers with salaries of ₹1 crore or more but less than ₹2 crore.
Record placements in first phase
On Tuesday evening, IIT Kharagpur announced that a total of 1,501 students received job offers in the first phase of the placement programme. Of these, 15 offers were from international organisations, while 457 were pre-placement offers.
In the institute’s earlier placement history, the highest salary offered was ₹2.14 crore, received by a student during the previous academic year’s placement programme. In 2025, a total of nine students had secured crore-rupee salary packages. This time, fifteen students have received crore-rupee salary offers, including five with packages of ₹2 crore or more.
Participation by global and domestic firms
Pratik Dama, Public Relations Officer of IIT Kharagpur, stated that in the first phase of the current academic year’s placement programme, 1,501 students received job offers across sectors such as technology, core engineering, consulting, and analytics. International organisations, including Apple, Tesla, Google, Microsoft, Mercedes, Amazon, Walmart, American Express, Samsung Korea, and Texas Instruments, participated, along with domestic companies such as L&T Finance and the Tata Group.

Professor Sanjay Gupta, Chairperson of IIT Kharagpur’s Career Development Centre (CDC), said that in the current global job recession, where even securing employment has become difficult, the institute’s success was a matter of great pride. He attributed this achievement to the sustained hard work and dedication of both teachers and students. Dr Gupta also said that the second phase of the placement programme had already begun and expressed gratitude to all domestic and international organisations participating in the process.
