Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has added another milestone to his international journey after the Los Angeles City Council officially declared January 6, 2027, as ‘Diljit Dosanjh Day’.
The civic honour recognises Dosanjh’s contribution to taking Punjabi music to a global audience and promoting South Asian representation in mainstream entertainment. The resolution was introduced by Los Angeles Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and formally adopted by the City Council.
Diljit shared the news with fans through Instagram, posting photographs and a video from the special ceremony.

“The Los Angeles City Council has officially adopted a civic resolution declaring January 6, 2027, as ‘Diljit Dosanjh Day’,” the singer wrote in his post.

As per the resolution provided by Diljit, this award is in honor of the Indian singer, actor, and producer who contributed immensely in spreading the Punjabi music to the world and bringing South Asian culture closer in American entertainment.
In the video shared on social media, Diljit was seen accepting the resolution presented to him in the form of a framed picture. The singer was dressed in a white kurta, pink salwar, and his trademark turban while accepting the resolution with folded hands and thanking all those who were there at the event. Soon fans started pouring in their congratulatory messages on social media.

In the recent years, Diljit has become one of India’s most recognisable music ambassadors across the world through performances in various international venues and festivals and by increasing the scope of Punjabi music among its target audience.
