Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a two-day visit to West Bengal on June 20, with a packed schedule that includes the release of the 23rd instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the launch of key infrastructure projects and participation in International Yoga Day celebrations.

The Prime Minister is expected to reach Tarakeswar in Hooghly district on Saturday afternoon, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple development and railway projects.

A major highlight of the visit will be the release of the 23rd instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. According to government estimates, more than ₹18,880 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 94.4 million farmers across the country.
West Bengal is expected to account for a significant share of the beneficiaries, with over 4.53 million farmers set to receive nearly ₹907 crore under the scheme. Each eligible farmer will receive ₹2,000 as part of the latest instalment.
The Prime Minister also said several agriculture-focused initiatives will be launched during the programme, including measures linked to the Digital Agriculture Mission, the National Mission on Natural Farming, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
Yoga Day and maritime programme in Kolkata
On June 21, PM Modi will participate in International Yoga Day celebrations at Kolkata’s Red Road, one of the key venues for this year’s nationwide observance.
Following the Yoga Day event, he is scheduled to attend a programme at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Garden Reach.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he was pleased that Kolkata had been chosen as a host city for Yoga Day celebrations and noted that the programme would highlight the importance of wellness and fitness.
