'Don't feel guilty': Kareena Kapoor speaks out on women quitting careers after marriage

Actor Kareena Kapoor believes that marriage and motherhood should not hold back women's careers and urges society to support working mothers.

Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan has once again discussed women's professions following marriage and children in an honest manner. The actress feels that a woman's career should never end whether she marries or has a child.

In a recent conversation with Hollywood Reporter India, Kareena emphasised how, once they get married or have kids, society frequently expects female performers to slow down or abandon their jobs. She did, however, clarify that these expectations ought to evolve over time.

Breaking stereotypes in Bollywood

Kareena Kapoor is an actress who has continued to work through her pregnancy and after becoming a mother. She is married to actor Saif Ali Khan and has two sons with him.

Despite her life changing in many ways, including becoming pregnant and then becoming a mother, Kareena is active in films, advertisements, and public appearances. She believes that women should be confident about managing their personal and professional lives if they wish to work.

She said that the decision should always remain with the woman. “If you don’t want to give up your career after becoming a mother, then don’t,” she was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Promoting a progressive mindset

Kareena believes that the entertainment industry and society are gradually becoming more liberal. She explained, “I think today, people are more open to accepting actresses who have come back after marriage and kids.”

She emphasised the need for creating a culture where women who are working mothers don’t feel guilty about pursuing their aspirations. She also believes women shouldn’t be judged for wanting both.

Setting an example for many women

Over time, Kareena Kapoor has turned out to be a role model for a lot of women who are working mothers in show business. The actress decided to continue her work after her marriage as well as after her pregnancy. In this way, she helped break some of the traditional myths that had been existing in Bollywood.

By sharing her thoughts on this subject, Kareena Kapoor wants to inspire women to be courageous enough to make choices that are best for them.
