Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film inspired by 26/11 Mumbai hospital attack: Here’s the latest update

Kangana Ranaut will star as a nurse in ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata,' based on the 2008 Mumbai terror attack at Cama and Albless Hospital. The film is directed by Manoj Tapadia and will be released later this year.

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is set to appear in ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata,' a film drawing on one of the most harrowing episodes of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. According to Variety India, the project focuses on staff at Cama and Albless Hospital, where two of the ten attackers opened fire on the night of November 26, 2008.

Ranaut is reported to portray a nurse in the film. Marathi actor Girija Oak will also take on a leading role. First-time director Manoj Tapadia is helming the project, which has completed principal photography and is currently in post-production, with a release expected later this year.

What happened at Cama and Albless hospital?

On the night of November 26, 2008, terrorists Ajmal Kasab and Abu Ismail Khan entered the hospital compound and fired indiscriminately, killing security personnel and wounding staff. According to a 2018 PTI report, the shooting took place behind the hospital's main six-storey building. Hospital employees responded by locking the gates of various buildings across the complex. A police encounter with the two attackers on the sixth floor which resulted in the deaths of two officers.

Kangana Ranaut’s recent and upcoming projects

Kangana Ranaut was last seen in 'Emergency,' released in Indian cinemas on January 17 of last year, in which she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film featured an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.

She is also set to make her Hollywood debut in ‘Blessed Be the Evil,' a horror drama directed by Anurag Rudra. The film, which co-stars Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone, is scheduled to begin production in New York this summer. Its story follows a Christian couple who purchase an abandoned farm with a dark past and whose faith and relationship are tested by a malevolent presence following a miscarriage.

Additionally, Ranaut will appear in a yet-untitled thriller alongside R Madhavan, directed by AL Vijay and produced by R Ravindran of Trident Arts.
