The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) on Wednesday withdrew its non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh following requests from industry bodies CINTAA and IMPAA.

The decision came a day after the actor sent a legal notice to the film workers’ body over the action taken against him after his exit from Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar.

FWICE responds after legal notice

At a press conference in Mumbai, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit confirmed that the organisation had received the legal communication from Ranveer Singh’s side, per a report by NDTV.

"The legal letter came to us yesterday and it was requesting us to remove the non-cooperation directive," he told NDTV..

FWICE president BN Tiwari announced that the directive had been withdrawn on the "request of CINTAA and IMPAA".

Pandit also said the organisation hoped to resolve the matter through dialogue.

"We appeal to Ranveer to come and sit with us and find a solution. We celebrate his stardom... We don't have any authority to ban anyone. We are hopeful that there will be a positive reaction from Ranveer," he added, per NDTV.

Controversy linked to Don 3 exit

The dispute began after Ranveer Singh stepped away from Don 3 following the release of Dhurandhar in December. FWICE later announced a non-cooperation directive against the actor during a press conference held on May 25.

The move triggered reactions from several film personalities, including Kangana Ranaut, Ram Gopal Varma, Padmini Kolhapure, Poonam Dhillon, Nikhil Dwivedi and Sanjay Gupta.

Producers Guild raises concerns

Veteran producer TP Aggarwal had also challenged FWICE’s action by filing a petition before the Bombay Civil Court in Dindoshi.

His plea argued that no organisation or trade body has the authority to impose bans or instruct others not to work with an individual.

Meanwhile, the Producers Guild of India issued a statement highlighting concerns over “growing instances of talent, directors and technicians” withdrawing from projects at the “eleventh hour”.

"No member of the industry should indulge in such behaviour that has, in these cases, led to substantial financial loss to our member producers as well as to other verticals in the industry. Such actions by any industry member have serious and far-reaching consequences and undermine the spirit of trust, professionalism and mutual respect on which the film industry is built," the body said.
