Actress Ayelet Zurer may be nearing the end of her run on Daredevil: Born Again. She has played Vanessa Fisk since Season 1 of the original Daredevil series. Her continuation depends entirely on how her character's story resolves in the episodes ahead.
Daredevil: Born Again was created by Matt Corman, Chris Ord, and Dario Scardapane. The series follows Matt Murdock going up against Wilson Fisk, who is now the city's mayor with ties to the CIA. This season also brings in Bullseye, who declares he will accomplish what Daredevil has failed to do throughout his entire time as a hero.

The shocking end to episode 4
Season 2, Episode 4, titled "Gloves Off," ends with Vanessa struck by a glass shard that impales her head at Fogwell's Gym. She collapses into Fisk's arms, barely alive. The episode does not confirm whether she survives. The attack happens just moments after Vanessa and Fisk share an emotional reconnection, making it all the more tragic.
Bullseye is responsible for the shot. This carries dark irony - he carries trauma from killing Foggy, a death that occurred under Vanessa's own orders. Her potential death also creates a serious problem for Matt. He has fought hard to stop Fisk and his family from being seen as martyrs rather than criminals. Vanessa's death could destroy that effort entirely, as cited by TheCinemaholic.
Ayelet Zurer shared glimpses of episode 4 on her Instagram on her Instagram. Fans expressed their excitement and love. One commented, “Amazing performance! Loving this season!!” Another added, “You are amazing in House of David AND this season to Daredevil: Born Again! Vanessa and Wilson are a great power couple! The Kingpin and Queenpin!”
What the Comics and Canon Suggest
As per the TheCinemaholic, Survival is not impossible. Fisk's vast wealth and resources could provide emergency treatment. The show has done this before Cherry nearly died from a heart attack earlier this season but survived. That said, Marvel comics have long established that Kingpin and Vanessa must part ways eventually. The Spider-Verse series similarly uses their separation as the driving force behind Fisk's villainy. A tragic ending for Vanessa in Born Again would follow that same tradition.

Ayelet Zurer's take on Vanessa
According to TheCinemaholic, Ayelet Zurer recently spoke to The Wrap about returning to the role. Coming back required a fresh approach and a completely new lens. "People change. And to be honest, I've changed. My point of view changed. You know, life goes on," she said. She added, "very soon and quickly, I understood where this is going and why it's needed."
Ayelet Zurer does not view Vanessa as a straightforward villain. She sees her as a hopeless romantic - someone deeply devoted to Fisk and willing to go to great lengths for him. The head injury, combined with the emotional moment shared with Fisk just before the attack, gives Ayelet Zurer significant creative room to explore new dimensions of her character.
