A stranded couple, a remote hotel, and a lurking crocodile set the stage for Tu Yaa Main, a survival thriller directed by Bejoy Nambiar. Adapted from the 2018 Thai film The Pool, the story has been reworked by Himanshu Sharma and written by Abhishek Arun Bandekar. The film stars Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor in lead roles, blending romance with high-stakes survival drama.

The film follows Avani, a social media content creator with millions of followers, and Maruti, an aspiring rapper from Nalasopara also known as Aala Flowpara. The two meet, fall for each other, and head to Goa. Things go wrong along the way, and what follows is tense and unpredictable.

Netflix brings it to a global audience

After a mixed theatrical run, Tu Yaa Main is now headed to Netflix. The platform announced on Thursday that the film will be available from April 10. To mark the release, Netflix shared a short video showing a close-up of a crocodile with Shanaya screaming in the background, captioning it: "Love can be eye-opening Watch Tu Yaa Main, out 10 April, on Netflix."

Bejoy Nambiar on reaching more viewers

Director Bejoy Nambiar welcomed the OTT release. "Tu Yaa Main was always about creating something visceral and unpredictable. We wanted audiences to feel the tension as it unfolds. It's been great to see people connect with it, especially since it's not a genre we do often. And with the Netflix release, we're excited for more audiences to experience it as well," he said as cited by Hindustan Times.

Shanaya Kapoor's journey with the film

Tu Yaa Main was Shanaya Kapoor's second theatrical release, following her debut Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan alongside Vikrant Massey, which also failed at the box office. The film collected only 7.31 crore domestically.

Despite this, Shanaya Kapoor spoke warmly about the experience on Instagram. "Tu Yaa Main came into my life at a time when I really didn't have the most confidence in myself, and it gave me that and everything more," she wrote. She added, "Tu Yaa Main is now in theatres and Avani is out there surviving crocodiles. She taught me so much, especially how to be a complete BADASS (still trying... getting there... I think).

Thank you, not just for letting me play her, but for accepting me as a part of something like this so early on in my career... all the love from the audience, the reviews, everything. Overwhelmed. I still have a long journey of learning this art, so getting to work with @bejoynambiar and @aanandIrai's slightly unhinged, very real world feels kind of wild! @bejoynambiar sir, thank you for bringing AVANI to life, for believing in me and pushing me to be the best version of myself. I'm forever grateful to have gotten the chance to be directed by YOU! Love u sir!.."
