From Hogwarts to Regency-era drama
Leung’s acting career began when she played Cho Chang in the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, after which she appeared in other Harry Potter films, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. Looking back at her time in Hollywood, Leung said that she was still learning about herself during that period, especially when it came to being easily influenced by public opinion about her work.
Leung shared that she enjoys working on Bridgerton more than returning to the Harry Potter set, "I'm so glad I'm here. I would not want to go back to that time," she said. "Not because I had a bad time or anything, but it's just really nice when you know who you are, and I'm still figuring that out, but I'm a bit closer."
“I was so young at the time, and I was so easily influenced by what people would say about me because I didn’t know who I was,” she said during the interview. Leung said that her time in Bridgerton was different, helping her become clearer about her craft.
A new chapter in ‘Bridgerton’
In the next season of Bridgerton, Leung is playing the ambitious character of Lady Araminta Gun, who is a prominent figure in London’s Regency-era high society.
Leung stated that she feels happy to be at a point in her life when she is more aware of who she is as a person and as an artist. She stated that though she does not regret her time in the Harry Potter series, she does not think she would ever want to go back to that time.
