Peddi surpasses Game Changer and recent Telugu releases
The latest box-office numbers have already placed Peddi ahead of several recent Telugu releases.
The film has reportedly overtaken the lifetime collection of Ram Charan's previous release Game Changer, which earned around ₹186 crore globally. It has also moved ahead of Mirai, which collected approximately ₹189 crore worldwide.
The performance has reinforced Ram Charan's standing as one of Telugu cinema's biggest box-office draws, particularly in his home market.

Controversy fails to dent audience interest
Nevertheless, the success of the movie is despite the backlash from the online community with regards to the depiction of the character played by Janhvi Kapoor. There have been criticisms from several viewers regarding certain scenes where there is said to be undermining of the lead actress, coupled with her portrayal using the male gaze in excess.
Following the criticisms, director Buchi Babu Sana was quoted as saying he will make necessary alterations to the portions that received criticism. So far, no comment from Janhvi Kapoor regarding the matter.
Despite the criticisms, the movie is expected to have a strong box-office performance in the coming weeks with high attendance levels and a favorable word-of-mouth during the opening week. There is also lack of stiff competition at the movie theatres.
