Plot of 'Khancha'
The story takes place in the quiet-looking village of Tiaban, which, at first glance, seems peaceful and uneventful. But a closer look reveals a dark secret. For over thirty years, a human trafficking network has been operating under the guise of labour transport. Bishwambhar Biswas, known as Mama, and his first wife, Meenakshi Devi, called Mami, have destroyed countless lives. Komalesh, a native of the village, lost his sister to this gang when he was a child and has been struggling to bring justice ever since. Even when his mother approached the authorities, the complaints were ignored, and those who dared speak up were silenced. The film traces Komalesh’s fight against Mama, Mami, and their associates, weaving together suspense, action, and the ultimate triumph of truth.
Cinebap marks debut
Khacha features a talented ensemble cast. The popular YouTuber 'Cinebap' Mrinmoy plays Komalesh for the first time in a cinema.
Mrinmoy shares his stories, wondering how many people might wonder about this debut, "I have wanted to be a hero for many years now. I have over a decade of experience — I started working in the media in 2012, first through reality shows and then on YouTube. But even before that, my dream was always to become a hero. Becoming a hero in mainstream commercial cinema is not easy. It needs the right preparation, the guidance of the right people, and, most importantly, the right timing."
Talking about his experience with his first director, he added, "My experience of working with director Anirban Chakraborty and Swabhumi Entertainment has been truly wonderful. He is an extremely positive and joyful person. He enjoys himself, yet is just as serious when it comes to work. He has a very sharp mind and is a hardworking director. I have learned a lot from him. On camera, he is my captain; off camera, we are very good friends."

Anirban Chakraborty shares BTS story
Anirban Chakraborty shares a behind-the-scenes moment from the shooting. He said, “When actors like Rajatava Dutta, Mir Afsar Ali, Kanchana, Anindya Banerjee, Sonali, Mrinmoy, Pratyusha and Krishna are on set, every moment becomes memorable. But one night, in particular, has stayed with me. We were shooting in a remote area of Kalimpong when the local manager suddenly came up to me and showed me a video. Just a few hours earlier, a leopard had been spotted at the exact spot where I was sitting.
He continued, "Coincidentally, at that very moment, all the lights went out due to a technical glitch. In the pitch-dark mountain forest, the only thing visible was the stare of that leopard on a mobile screen. That’s when it truly hit me—I was the uninvited guest in its territory, not the other way around.”

Talking about the producers, Mrinmoy shares, "I also feel completely at home with the Swabhumi Entertainment production house. I extend my heartfelt thanks to producer Dr Prabir Bhowmik. Not everyone is willing to take the risk of launching a new face as a hero. Yet he trusted someone like me, an outsider to Tollywood with no industry background. I am confident that I will live up to that trust. And I must mention one more person. This project would not have begun without the executive producer, Krishna Banerjee."
Dr. Prabir Bhowmick invests in future
Regarding this Dr. Bhowmick shares, "Today’s new faces are tomorrow’s big stars. This has always been the case. They are searching for new opportunities, and I admire and respect their potential. In the days ahead, working with both established artistes and the new generation will be important. I believe this will not only create new employment opportunities but also help our industry grow stronger and richer."
With its taut screenplay, compelling performances, and intense visual storytelling, 'Khacha' is shaping up to be one of the most talked- about Bengali releases of early 2026.
It is a story of courage, justice, and the fight against a system that thrives on corruption and exploitation, all wrapped in a cinematic experience that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
