Bengali content creator Samik “Nonsane” Adhikary has been granted bail after spending more than a month in judicial custody in connection with a harassment and mental torture case filed by a young woman in Kolkata. The influencer was arrested in early February after the complainant accused him of wrongful confinement, physical assault, and psychological abuse. While the court has now allowed him bail, the legal proceedings in the case are still ongoing.
The case dates back to early February when a young woman filed a complaint accusing Adhikary of harassment and abuse. According to the FIR, the alleged incident took place at a flat in Behala, Kolkata, on February 2. The woman claimed that the content creator called her to the apartment and then confined her inside the flat until the evening of February 3.
She further alleged that during this period she was subjected to both physical assault and mental torture. Based on her complaint, police launched an investigation and later arrested Adhikary from the Dum Dum area on February 6.
Investigation and time in judicial custody
After the arrest, the court initially sent the influencer to judicial custody for 14 days as investigators began examining the allegations and gathering evidence related to the case. Reports also stated that police recovered several objectionable videos from his mobile phone during the investigation, which added further controversy to the matter.
Adhikary, however, denied the accusations and maintained that he was innocent. His legal team argued that the allegations against him were not accurate and requested bail while the investigation continued.
Court grants bail
Following weeks of legal proceedings, the court eventually granted bail to Adhikary, ending his stay in jail for now. Despite securing bail, the case has not been closed and the legal process will continue as authorities review the evidence and statements presented by both sides.
The controversy has drawn significant attention online due to Adhikary’s popularity as a Bengali digital content creator. As the investigation progresses, further developments in the case are expected.
