Bangladesh is playing their first series after the World Cup boycott against Pakistan. In the very first match of the series, Bangladesh crushed Pakistan by 8 wickets. Nahid Rana, the young first bowler of Bangladesh, took the bone out of them by taking a fifer. Failing miserably, Pakistan batters were all out in just 114 runs, and in reply, Bangladesh chased the runs in just 15.1 overs.

Shaun Tait, a former Australian cricketer and Bangladesh bowling coach, said about him as quoted by cricbuzz, “I think he's (Rana) got a point to prove. It's good to see him get an opportunity early in the series, in the first game. You know, I think he's got to put his hand up for the selectors to pick him. So, if he does well, if he gets a game, does well, then he's going to get picked, hopefully. So, I think, you know, it would just be nice to see a bit more... And if he puts performances like that together, hopefully we'll see a bit more.”
Who is Nahid Rana?
Nahid Rana is a rising fast bowler from Bangladesh who has quickly gained attention for his raw pace and wicket-taking ability. Born on 2 October 2002 in Chapai Nawabganj, Rana is known for his tall frame and ability to generate steep bounce from the pitch. Standing around 6 ft 5 in, he is considered one of the fastest bowlers Bangladesh has produced in recent years.
Rana bowls right-arm fast and regularly clocks speeds above 140 km/h, with some deliveries touching 150 km/h, which is rare for Bangladeshi pacers. His pace and aggression have made him a key prospect for Bangladesh’s future pace attack. He began his professional journey in domestic cricket with Rajshahi Division, making his first-class debut in 2021. Strong performances in domestic tournaments and the Bangladesh Premier League helped him earn national selection.
