54-year-old Delhi woman kills two daughters, tries to end life: Here's what happened

A 54-year-old Delhi woman allegedly killed her two daughters before attempting suicide.

On Sunday evening, a deadly incident occurred in New Delhi. A 54-year-old woman was taken into custody for murdering her two daughters. The case came to light on March 5. The police found the dead body in their own residence in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar, and the mother was found unconscious as she attempted suicide, as per the reports.

Unconscious mother and two daughters

As per reports, The police found the two female dead bodies in there ground floor apartment, aged around 28 and 34, later in another room, the police discover there mother in an unconscious state. As per the report, the unconscious woman’s husband was called by PCR around 6 pm, as his wife and daughter didn’t response him.

The police squad reached and discovered the door was locked from the inside. The team broke a window to enter the house. Inside the room, the scene was horrific as the elder daughter, who had an intellectual disability, had a pillow on her face. Another room was also locked from inside.

Later, the team broke the lock and entered, found the younger daughter, who was a law student; her body was found on a bed with a ligature around her neck. The mother was found unconscious in another room, and the team was urgently taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre. The doctor thinks that she ate a poisonous substance, it might be a mixture of phenyl and camphor, which was found at the spot. Additionally, her wrist was also slit.

What was behind the incident?

On Friday, she was taken into custody after being discharged from the hospital and psychiatric evaluation. For suspicion of murder and a suicide attempt. The police anticipated and waited for the women’s statement.

As per reports, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal said, "The accused remains evasive during interrogation. We are still trying to ascertain the exact sequence of events and the reasons behind the double murder and the alleged suicide attempt."

Initially, the police investigation hints that the woman was depressed because of their tense relationship. As per the reports, her husband didn’t take the terms over the past seven and eight years and did not even financially support her.

Police stated that the further investigation are still on going.
