The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, or IRCTC, has taken another step forward to enhance the comfort of rail passengers. A special 'E-Pantry' service has been launched for passengers of mail and express trains. Now travelers can get their favourite food right at their seat while travelling by train.

Initially, this online meal booking facility will be available on 25 important trains across the country. Gradually, this service will be available on all trains.

Pre-book meals on Indian trains with E-Pantry

This initiative has been taken primarily keeping in mind the passengers of trains where the cost of food is not included in the ticket price. IRCTC has announced that passengers can pre-book their preferred food and 'Rail Neer' (water) during ticket booking or later from 'Booked Ticket History'.

Once the order is successful, passengers will receive an MVC or 'Meal Verification Code' on their mobile. During the train journey, when vendors come to the seat to deliver food, showing this code will ensure delivery.

Trains with 'E-Pantry' facilities

The trial of this E-Pantry service has already been successful on long-distance trains like Vivek Express. Following this, the service has been launched on 25 trains, including Azad Hind Express, Purba Express, Purusottam Express, and Netravati Express.
