HDFC Bank on Wednesday announced that its chairman, Atanu Chakraborty, has resigned with immediate effect. In a regulatory filing issued late at night, the bank said Chakraborty submitted his resignation letter to the board on March 17. The bank also clarified that there were no reasons for his exit beyond what was stated in his letter. The direct tax system in India is all set to witness a significant change from April 1, 2026, with the introduction of the new Income-tax Act, 2025.
