Fans eagerly waiting for Shakira's India performances will now have to hold on a little longer as the much-anticipated concerts, scheduled for April in Mumbai and Delhi, have been postponed due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

Official confirmation and refund details

The organisers confirmed the development through an official statement on social media, citing safety concerns as the primary reason behind the decision.

"Due to the prevailing geopolitical situation and regional tensions, the Feeding India Concert featuring Shakira has been postponed until further. The well-being of our fans, the artist, and the production team remains our foremost priority. All ticket holders will receive a full refund, automatically processed to your original mode of payment," the organisers informed on social media.

They also reassured fans that efforts are being made to reschedule the shows. "We're working with the artist team to find a new date and will share updates as soon as we have them. Feeding India Concert has always stood for something greater – and that commitment remains unchanged," the statement added.

Planned venues and fan anticipation

The concerts were scheduled to be held at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on April 10 and the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on April 15. Both events had generated considerable excitement, with fans across the country looking forward to the global pop star's return to India.

How did people react?

Reacting to the cancellation, people took to social media to express their disappointment. One said, "I have already booked my flight tickets from Kolkata, and the tickets are non-refundable."

"I waited for this so bad!" said another. One person questioned the sudden cancellation decision and wrote, "You guys were literally saying it's happening until yesterday. I don't work in the live events industry but I'm pretty sure huge updates like this don't just happen in one day?"

"Who’s gonna pay my flight bills???" asked one fan. Another wrote with crying emojis, "Hips don't lie but district lied."

Several others questioned about their refunds and wrote, "Did anyone receive refund yet? My district app suits refund complete but it hasn't been credited to my account yet???"

Escalating tensions in West Asia

The postponement comes amid escalating tensions in West Asia that have triggered wider global disruptions. The situation intensified on February 28 following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in joint military strikes by the United States and Israel.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks targeting US and Israeli assets across the Gulf region. The conflict has also affected key global trade routes, with Iran shutting down the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial corridor for energy supplies.

Following these developments, Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly taken over as the new Supreme Leader of Iran, marking a significant shift in the country's leadership during a period of heightened regional instability.
