Eight people suspected of planning a major terror conspiracy in India have been arrested from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Officials said the group had alleged links with Pakistan's ISI and Bangladesh-based terror outfits, NDTV reported.
The six suspects have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammed Shabat, Umar, Mohammed Litan, Mohammed Shahid, and Mohammed Ujjal. They were arrested from garment manufacturing units in the Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu. Two others were picked up from West Bengal. Sources told NDTV that one of the arrested is a Bangladeshi national.
Police said the accused were allegedly using forged Aadhaar cards as identification. Eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards were recovered from them. The arrests were made by the Tamil Nadu Police. The suspects are being handed over to the Delhi Police for further investigation.
Suspected plot targeting Delhi
The arrests come a day after security sources warned that Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba was planning a possible blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. Other religious places, including a temple in Chandni Chowk, were also said to be on the radar.
Sources indicated the outfit may have been planning an improvised explosive device (IED) attack. The alleged motive was said to be revenge for a February 6 suicide blast at a mosque in Islamabad that killed 31 people and injured over 160. ISIS had claimed responsibility for that attack, NDTV reported.

Earlier blast near Red Fort
The fresh action comes nearly three months after a deadly car explosion near the Red Fort on November 10, 2025. Twelve people were killed, and around two dozen were injured in that blast.
Investigators said a car loaded with explosives detonated near Red Fort Metro Station, setting nearby vehicles on fire. Umar Mohammad, also known as Umar Un Nabi, a doctor at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, was allegedly driving the car.
On the same day, 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, were recovered about 50 km away in Faridabad, Haryana. Officials said the accused may have triggered the blast after key members of the module were arrested.
