US President Donald Trump has claimed that a US 'hospital boat' is on its way to Greenland to treat sick people. He made this announcement on Saturday on his social media platform Truth Social. He said the decision was taken in coordination with Louisiana Governor and Special Envoy to Greenland, Jeff Landry. However, Trump did not reveal the ship's name, its exact location, or when it would arrive.
According to President Trump, many people in Greenland are not receiving proper medical care. He wrote that a "great hospital boat" has already left America and is heading toward the Arctic island. There has been no official confirmation yet from Denmark or Greenland's authorities about the deployment.
Greenland is an autonomous territory under Denmark. The issue has drawn global attention because of Trump's repeated remarks about bringing Greenland under US control.
Protests and political reactions
The announcement comes amid growing controversy over Donald Trump's interest in annexing Greenland. In recent weeks, thousands of people in Greenland protested against his statements. They carried national flags and chanted, "Greenland is not for sale."

Greenland's people have stressed their right to self-rule. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said the matter should be handled through diplomatic talks. He underlined the need to respect Denmark's sovereignty and Greenlanders' right to self-determination.
Earlier, President Trump had said he wants 'rights, ownership, and control' over Greenland. At the World Economic Forum, he hinted that a future deal could be possible. He also questioned NATO's role in the region. At the same time, he said he would not use force.
