According to the pioneering cricket strategy, the teams could rely on a few points to drive the match towards them. Let us have a look at five points of the few tricks and strategies.
The main match is at the powerplay
For a long time, it was seen that a winning turn was decided during the 16-20 overs of a T20 match. But the data from recent seasons shows that the winning teams in the powerplay compares a difference of one run per over than the losing team. It simplifies the 12.0 run rate covered by CSK in the first six overs in 2023 and the same match with KKR in 2024.
The middle over protection
The middle over gameplay is what that makesva change for the teams after their build-up in the powerplay. The champions differ from one wicket than the losing team by one wicket, along with nearly ten runs per over. In 2025, PBKS almost matched RCB's scoreline in the middle by 67 runs against RCB's 77.
Death bowling is the key to locking the door
The death over spell is what brings success for a team. Also known as the 'slog over', it is the main opportunity for each of the team to guide themselves towards glory. It is seen that a winning team operates at 11.69 runs per over in the death, while the losing team sit at 9.12.
Coming to bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar this season has bagged 26 wickets at an economy of 8.00, while Kagiso Rabada has 26 wickets at 9.48. In the final, this difference is the trophy.

Scoring more boundaries than conceding
Across the last three seasons, the boundary and over-boundary ratio has moved from 0.51 to 0.57. The winners score 59.6% of their runs from boundaries against 56.7% for runners-up. The efficiency of hitting boundaries multiplies the advantage of getting towards the trophy.
The toss decision tells the winner
As per previous reports of IPL, it is seen that 10 out of the 18 finals were won by electing to bat first. The left 8 were won by target chasing. So, a clicking of coin does not decides a correct winner, the decision is made after the coin hits the ground. It is for the captain of toss winning team, who research the ground, the pitch, and lay out the strategy accordingly. In 2023 final, the winning team was decided chasing, the same as happened in 2024. The season of 2025 was decided defending by six runs after the other side nearly pulled off the impossible.

On Sunday evening in Ahmedabad, GT and RCB will be facing off each other through 20 overs each. Gill and Sudharsan need a powerplay of their last match against RR. Whereas RCB need a strong hold at their middle overs, with Bhuvneshwar's need for a death spell that locks the door for GT.
It is now for both the teams to execute their planned strategy in front of 1,32,000 spectators and others watching it online all over the country.
