Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has opened applications for its Summer Internship 2026. A summer at the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) can shape a career. This year's IIT Mandi Internship is going to offer far more than just a certificate. The programme provides hands-on research training, close mentorship from faculty, and a stipend of ₹10,000 per month. For many students, it can also open doors to higher studies at the institute through provisional offers.

Programme duration and timeline
The internship will run between May and July 2026 for a duration of one to two months. It is a residential programme where students will work with hardware and software analysis tools and gain direct exposure to research.
The institute started accepting applications from 9 February 2026 and will end on 30 March 2026. Selected interns are expected to join around 25 May 2026. The minimum duration is one month and it can go as long as two months.
Eligibility criteria
The programme is open only to students from all the institutes that have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the IIT Mandi. Students can check whether their institute is a part of the list here.
According to the official notification, students of B.Tech. or B.E. who are in their pre-final year, meaning third year and students enrolled in the first year of Postgraduate programs are eligible to apply for aaplying for the internship.
Both pre-final year undergraduate and first-year postgraduate students are eligible to apply.

Selection and mentorship
Interns will work under the mentorship of IIT Mandi faculty members. Applicants must visit the official website to review faculty research areas and clearly mention their proposed area of work and potential supervisor in the application.
Screening will be conducted by the respective schools or centres based on academic credentials. Shortlisting criteria may vary across departments.
Selected candidates must arrange a letter of recommendation or a No Objection Certificate from their institute. Travel and living expenses will be borne by the intern. Intimation of selection will be communicated via email.

Research areas include Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Biosciences, Chemical Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computing, Humanities, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Sciences, Quantum Science, Human Computer Interaction, and Indian Knowledge Systems.
