IPL 2026: Orange Cap leader Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reveals surprising cartoon obsession

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi spends time watching cartoons for peace of mind ahead his stormy performance in IPL.

The 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken RR to the brink of finals of the IPL 2026 by knocking out top class faces of the season. With holding the top seat for the Orange Cap by scoring more than 600 runs this season, Vaibhav has also been called for the Indian national team. Meanwhile, the emerging star who have made havoc against world-class bowlers like Pat Cummins, Jasprit Bumrah, and Josh Hazlewood, remains a child from inside who is a fond of cartoons.

Sooryavanshi opens up about his habit of watching cartoons. He claims that an hour or two in front of the television does not being him the peace after scoring against top bowlers.

Speaking to JioStar, Vaibhav said as quoted by NDTV sports, "When I used to stay at home two or three years ago and played matches or practised there, whenever I had free time at home, I used to watch cartoons, and I really enjoyed it. Even now, whenever I feel like I need some relaxation or peace, I watch cartoons. I sit comfortably in my room and watch whichever cartoons I like. It feels really nice and reminds me a lot of home."

Sooryavanshi came into RR franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction with a bid which earned him Rs 1.10 crore. The youngster is enjoying his life at the camp of RR and wants to continue forward.

Taking to NDTV, Sooryavanshi reveals, "I got the first call from Romi Bhinder sir, who is the team manager. I was in Dubai, and the auction was also taking place there. After the trials, I had spoken to him and he had told me that they would go for me, and then we spoke for two to three minutes on the call while he congratulated me. In my debut match, I hit a six off the first ball, so it was a very special moment and a great memory. Then, I scored a hundred in the same season, which was a very proud moment for both my family and me. It was only my third match, so it felt great to have such a good start to my IPL career, and I am just carrying that momentum forward now."

Sooryavanshi is set to face GT in the Qualifier 2, after his record-breaking performance in the Eliminators against SRH by scoring a massive score of 97 runs off 29 balls.
