Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Dwayne Bravo has found himself in an awkward situation ahead of IPL 2028, after a private remark was accidentally picked up on a live mic during a media interaction.

The incident, which has now gone viral, has sparked reactions online.

What exactly happened?

Bravo was present at the event alongside head coach Abhishek Nayar, assistant coach Shane Watson and captain Ajinkya Rahane. While greeting each other, Bravo appeared to say, “When these guys called me, I had two chicks at my home.” He was speaking to Watson and gestured towards Nayar at the same time.

However, he was unaware that the microphones were already on. Ajinkya Rahane quickly stepped in to alert him, following which Bravo reacted with, “Shit.” The moment left him visibly embarrassed, and others present became cautious immediately after.

Social media reacts

The clip has since gone viral, drawing criticism from several users online. One user on X (formerly Twitter) , named @93yorker, criticised Bravo’s comment, saying it's demeaning and shameful.

"KKR full management was attending a press conference, including their coach and captain. Bravo didn’t know Mics were on when he said I had 2 chicks (girlfriends) at my house. When Rahane told him mic was on his face was completely off. Such a shame that he is part of IPL with this mindset," the X user wrote.

Another user, also reacted, saying, “This is disappointing if true. Professional environments demand respect especially on a mic, whether you think it’s live or not. Players represent more than just themselves. Hope there’s accountability.”

One user wrote,"Honestly, the lack of awareness is wild. It’s not even about his personal life do what you want but when you’re representing a massive franchise like KKR at a formal presser, you’ve gotta have some decorum. Rahane being the one to point it out is so on brand though. Professionalism matters."

One user defended him,"Nothing is wrong with that. He is a Caribbean & they enjoy their life according to their lifestyle & culture."

It remains unclear who Bravo was referring to in his comment, and they could well be his friends. Based on the short clip alone, no firm conclusions can be drawn.

However, public figures are often under constant scrutiny, and even casual remarks can lead to controversy or embarrassment.
